Six Years of For Men To Talk: Supporting Men, One Conversation at a Time

Today marks six years since ‘For Men To Talk’ officially became a Community Interest Company (CIC). It is a milestone that celebrates not only the organisation, but also the thousands of conversations that have helped men feel less alone.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the last six years. Most importantly, thank you to every man who has found the courage to attend a meeting and speak about his mental health. Your honesty and bravery continue to inspire others to do the same.
A Community Interest Company is a business created to benefit the community rather than make profits for individuals. That has always been at the heart of ‘For Men To Talk’. Every decision we make is focused on helping men who are struggling with mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression and grief.
At ‘For Men To Talk’, we provide a safe, welcoming and relaxed place where men can talk openly. Conversations cover many parts of life, including work, relationships, family, stress, anxiety and anything else that may be affecting them.
There is no pressure to speak. Men can share as much or as little as they feel comfortable with. There is no need to register, no referral is required and there is no cost to attend. We believe that removing barriers makes it easier for men to reach out when they need support.
Over the past six years, ‘For Men To Talk’ has continued to grow. We now offer a variety of ways for men to connect, including physical meetings, virtual meetings, walking groups, fishing sessions and social activities.
Our regular meetings are held in Ampthill, Biggleswade, Potton and Sandy in Bedfordshire, St Neots and Gamlingay in Cambridgeshire, and Hitchin in Hertfordshire.
We also run ‘For Men To Talk about Autism’, a dedicated group for autistic men, men with autistic family members, and those waiting for an autism diagnosis. It provides a safe and understanding space where experiences can be shared without judgement.
For those simply looking to enjoy time with others, ‘For Men To Talk Social Club’ offers monthly outings to places such as restaurants, cinemas and comedy clubs. These events focus on friendship, connection and enjoying good company.
Later this year, we are excited to launch ‘For Men To Talk Shed’. This new project will give men the chance to take part in practical and creative activities while building confidence, learning new skills and meeting others in a supportive environment.
Luke Newman, CEO and founder of ‘For Men To Talk’, said: “Six years ago, I never imagined how many lives this organisation would touch. Every conversation matters, and every man who walks through our doors reminds us why we do what we do. Thank you to everyone who has supported our journey, and here’s to continuing to help men realise they never have to face their struggles alone.”
