Luke Newman Delivers Men’s Mental Health Session at USystems

General News, News & Events

Luke Newman, CEO and Founder of ‘For Men To Talk’, recently delivered an engaging and thought-provoking session for staff at USystems, helping to raise awareness of men’s mental health and the importance of open conversations.

USystems is committed to creating more efficient and sustainable data centres around the world. Through innovative technologies, the company helps reduce energy use and lower carbon emissions globally. Alongside its focus on sustainability and innovation, USystems recognises the importance of supporting the wellbeing of its workforce.

During the session, Luke explored several key topics connected to mental health, including Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), the causes of poor mental health in children and teenagers, and the factors that can affect men’s mental wellbeing throughout their lives.

The presentation highlighted how experiences in childhood can have a lasting impact on mental health. Luke explained that challenges such as trauma, neglect, bullying, family breakdowns and difficult life events can influence how people cope with situations later in life.

The session also examined how the causes of poor mental health can change as children grow into teenagers. Pressures linked to education, social media, relationships, identity and future expectations can all contribute to increased stress, anxiety and low mood.

A significant focus of the presentation was on men’s mental health. Luke discussed some of the common challenges men face, including work pressures, financial concerns, relationship difficulties, loneliness, grief and societal expectations. He also explored why many men find it difficult to talk about their mental health.

Participants discussed some of the barriers that can prevent men from opening up, including stigma, fear of judgement, concerns about appearing weak and the belief that they should deal with problems alone. These conversations encouraged reflection on how workplaces, families and communities can create environments where men feel comfortable seeking support.

The session was designed to be interactive, encouraging attendees to share thoughts, ask questions and consider how they can support both themselves and others. Through discussion and reflection, participants gained a greater understanding of the value of connection and the positive impact that talking can have on mental wellbeing.

Luke Newman said: “Too many men continue to struggle in silence because they feel they cannot talk about what they are going through. By creating opportunities for open and honest conversations, we can help break down stigma, build stronger connections and remind men that they do not have to face challenges alone. It was a privilege to speak with the team at USystems and see such positive engagement throughout the session.”

Luke is available to work with organisations, businesses, educational settings and community groups across the UK, delivering talks and workshops that encourage meaningful conversations around mental health and wellbeing.

By bringing people together to discuss mental health openly, these sessions help create greater understanding, stronger support networks and a culture where seeking help is viewed as a strength rather than a weakness.
