Celebrating the Volunteers of ‘For Men To Talk’ – Champions of Men’s Mental Health

General News, News & Events

As we mark Volunteers’ Week from Monday 2 June to Sunday 8 June, we want to shine a bright and heartfelt light on the unsung heroes of ‘For Men To Talk’ — our volunteer facilitators. These incredible individuals are at the very heart of our mission, offering their time, empathy, and dedication to support men navigating through anxiety, depression, grief, and life’s many emotional hurdles.

‘For Men To Talk’ is more than just a support group. It’s a safe, welcoming space where men come together to share, listen, and support each other. Whether through our physical meetings, virtual check-ins, walking groups, or fishing sessions, our facilitators are there — not just to guide, but to truly connect. They help create an atmosphere where openness is encouraged, vulnerability is met with compassion, and no one has to face their struggles alone.

What makes this even more inspiring is that these facilitators are volunteers. They’re not doing this for recognition or reward, but because they care deeply about men’s mental health. They know, perhaps through personal experience, just how powerful it can be to have someone simply listen — and how healing it can be to talk.

As a Community Interest Company (CIC), ‘For Men To Talk’ was founded with one goal in mind: to support men and break the stigma surrounding mental health. Our facilitators embody this mission every single day. Their contribution is not just about hosting sessions — it’s about building trust, fostering hope, and helping men take steps towards better mental wellbeing.

Volunteering is a gift — of time, patience, and presence — and our facilitators give that gift generously. They often juggle other jobs, family responsibilities, and personal commitments, yet they still make space to support others. That’s something truly worth celebrating.

During Volunteers’ Week, we also want to inspire more people to get involved. If you’re someone who believes in making a difference, who understands the value of listening without judgment, and who wants to help build stronger, healthier communities — we’d love to hear from you. Whether you’ve been through mental health challenges yourself or simply want to help others through theirs, becoming a volunteer facilitator could be one of the most rewarding things you ever do.

So to all our current facilitators: thank you. Thank you for showing up, for listening, for encouraging, and for leading by example. You are changing lives, one conversation at a time.

And to those thinking of joining our community: you don’t have to be an expert, just a caring human being. Together, we can continue to make ‘For Men To Talk’ a lifeline for many.
