‘For Men To Talk’ founder and CEO talks to Angry little Welshman

General News, News & Events

Angry Little Welshman and friends, a podcast exploring mental health, male attitudes towards it and anger, and in particular how we can use that to make positive change, called angergy.

In each episode, he shares his own mental health journey, as well as being joined by a special guest to hear their experiences on these topics and how they may be using their Angergy.

In this episode, ‘For Men To Talk’ founder and CEO, Luke Newman talks about the challenges men face in seeking help, the stigma around expressing emotions, and the importance of breaking societal norms around masculinity. Luke explains his reasons for setting up ‘For Men to Talk’, and the various methods used to engage men.

The idea to start ‘For Men To Talk’ stemmed from his own experiences grappling with anxiety, depression, and grief, feelings that became all too familiar to him after he tragically lost his mother and sister to cancer.

Despite having sought out counselling and therapy to cope with his emotional struggles, he couldn’t help but notice a glaring absence of support groups specifically tailored to men who needed a platform to voice their emotions and experiences.

With the hope of providing a space for men to connect and converse about their feelings, he took the initiative to create ‘For Men To Talk’ in December 2019.

Check out this wonderful conversation, and how we, as a population, can help young men.
