Two Days, Two Events, One Mission: Supporting Men’s Health and Connection

General News, News & Events

‘For Men To Talk’ was proud to be part of two important community events across two days, continuing its mission to support men’s mental health and wellbeing in safe, open spaces.

On Wednesday 18th March 2026, the team attended the ‘Networking Forum Live Event – Bedford’, held at the Addison Centre in Kempston. This event brought together a wide range of local organisations and professionals, all working to support communities across Bedfordshire.

The day included updates from services such as YouTurn Futures and Direction for Bedfordshire, alongside partner updates and formal presentations. There was also plenty of time for networking, giving organisations the chance to connect, share ideas, and build stronger partnerships. ‘For Men To Talk’ hosted a stall in the marketplace, speaking with attendees about the importance of peer support and how simple conversations can make a big difference in a man’s life.

The following day, on Thursday 19th March 2026, ‘For Men To Talk’ took part in the ‘Men’s Health Zone Event’ at John Bunyan Sports and Fitness. This event was delivered in partnership by Healthwise, Better, and Bedfordshire Pilgrims Housing Association (bpha), focusing on all aspects of male health.

The event offered a welcoming and engaging environment, with health and wellbeing stalls, guest speakers, and physical activity taster sessions such as boxing and paddle tennis. It created a space where men could ask questions, try something new, and think about their overall health—both physical and mental.

Across both events, ‘For Men To Talk’ had inspiring conversations with a range of organisations. These included GamCare, who provide support for those affected by gambling harm; Choose You, a service helping people build healthier habits; Path2Recovery, offering support for those impacted by alcohol or drug use; and Movement is Medicine (MIM), which uses movement and music to reduce stress and improve wellbeing.

These conversations highlighted the importance of collaboration. Supporting men’s mental health is not something one organisation can do alone—it takes a network of services working together to provide the right support at the right time.

At its core, ‘For Men To Talk’ remains a peer support group for men experiencing mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and grief. It offers a safe and comfortable environment where men can talk openly, without pressure or judgement. There are no rules, no referrals, and no expectations—men can share as much or as little as they like.

The group continues to grow, now offering physical, virtual, walking, fishing, and social meetings across multiple locations including Ampthill, Bedford, Biggleswade, Potton, Sandy, St Neots, Gamlingay, Hitchin, and even Stockport.

Alongside this, ‘For Men To Talk about Autism’ provides a dedicated and inclusive space for autistic men, those awaiting diagnosis, or those supporting autistic family members. The ‘For Men To Talk Social Club’ also offers a lighter approach, focusing on social connection through trips to restaurants, cinemas, and comedy clubs.

Reflecting on the two days, CEO and founder Luke Newman said: “These events show the power of connection. Whether it’s a quick chat at a stall or a deeper conversation, every interaction matters. When men feel heard and supported, it can change lives.”

Two days, two events, and countless conversations—each one helping to break the stigma and remind men they are not alone.
