General News, Meetings, News & Events, St Neots

On Friday 5 June 2026, ‘For Men To Talk’ was proud to attend The Big Listen 2026 in St Neots. The event was organised by St Neots Initiative in partnership with Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority and supported by St Neots Town Council.

The Big Listen brought together people from across the community to share ideas and discuss the future of St Neots. At the heart of Market Square was one long table with 200 seats, creating a welcoming space for conversation and connection.

The event was open to everyone. Business owners, residents, young people and community leaders sat side by side, listening to one another, sharing their views and helping shape what comes next for the town.

Attendees were encouraged to discuss important questions, including:

  • What do you love about St Neots?
  • What could be better in St Neots?
  • What would make St Neots a great place to live?

‘For Men To Talk’ shared a stall with Walk & Talk 4 Men St. Neots, St Neots Man Cave and Andy’s Man Club. Together, the groups promoted the mental health support available to men living in and around St Neots.

Throughout the day, CEO Luke Newman met and spoke with a range of local leaders and key figures. These included Ian Sollom MP, the Liberal Democrat MP for St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire, Daryl Brown MBE Chief Executive of Magpas Air Ambulance and Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire and Richard Shaw MBE, with decades of leadership experience in the non-profit sector.

However, the most important conversations were with members of the public. The event provided an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of the support available through ‘For Men To Talk’ and to encourage men to seek help when they need it.

Luke Newman said: “Events like The Big Listen are important because they bring communities together. It was fantastic to meet local residents, discuss men’s mental health and help people understand that support is available. Every conversation helps break down stigma and encourages men to reach out when they need support.”

‘For Men To Talk’ is a peer support group for men experiencing mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression and grief. Meetings provide a safe and comfortable environment where men can talk openly about the issues affecting their lives. Conversations often include topics such as work, relationships, family life, anxiety and many other challenges.

There are no rules or regulations, and no registration or referral is required. Men can say as much or as little as they wish, making the sessions accessible and welcoming to everyone.

The organisation has held physical meetings in St Neots for several years at St Neots Golf Club. Meetings currently take place on the third Tuesday of every month at 6pm.

As awareness of men’s mental health continues to grow, events such as The Big Listen provide valuable opportunities to connect with local communities, share information and remind men that they do not have to face their struggles alone.
