‘For Men To Talk’ expands to Gamlingay and Sandy
Celebrating their three year anniversary, a mens peer support group based in Potton, will soon be launching two more local group meetings in 2023.
‘For Men To Talk’ is a Community Interest Company established by Luke Newman in December 2019, will be hosting two more monthly meetings at the Eco Hub in Gamlingay, Cambridgeshire and the Roundabout Club in Sandy, Bedfordshire. It’s a chance for men suffering with a mental health illness, such as anxiety, grief and depression to discuss how they are feeling.
Already hosting meetings at The Crown Hotel, Wetherspoon, in Biggleswade and St.Neots Golf Club, as well as weekly virtual meetings, Luke is excited to bring ‘For Men To Talk’ to two more towns.
“I am extremely impressed with how the Eco Hub has developed in the last few years, offering support to vulnerable people in Gamlingay. I know that it’s a safe and comfortable environment for men to feel that they can talk,” said Luke.
“I have seen the growth of ‘For Men To Talk’ from social media and local news reports, ” continued Neil Muirhead, Chair of Board of Trustees of the Eco Hub. “I feel that Luke and his peer support group will be a great addition to the Eco Hub and will give vital help to the men in the Gamlingay community.”
Having grown up in Sandy, Luke is delighted to come back home. “For Men To Talk continues to expand. Offering new groups in Gamlingay and Sandy brings the total amount of meetings to 124 in 2023. That’s 124 opportunities for men to discuss their mental health. The new Victory Suite at the Roundabout Club is an ideal venue for us.”
A spokesperson concluded “The Roundabout Club is open to community groups, especially in our new function suite, and we are delighted to welcome the attendees of ‘For Men To Talk’ and we know that in today’s challenges this is vital for men to find a platform to talk.”
As well as the physical meetings, the group also hold weekly virtual meetings via zoom and a monthly ‘Walk and Talk’ around the Green Wheel in Biggleswade.
