‘For Men To Talk’ founder at ‘St Neots Man Cave’

‘For Men To Talk’ founder Luke Newman recently took a trip to ‘St Neots Man Cave’ in the Huntingdonshire district of Cambridgeshire to see the fantastic work that they are achieving.
‘St Neots Man Cave’ is a community space for men to connect, converse and create. Current activities see the men building items such as bird boxes and hedgehog houses and refurbishing bicycles for all ages. More importantly, the Cave gives a chance for the gentlemen to help reduce loneliness and isolation.
It opened its doors for a launch event on Sunday 9 October 2022 and wants to extend a welcome to any man in the area to join them.
‘St Neots Man Cave’ is part of the The Men’s Shed Association. A UK-based charity that aims to promote the health and wellbeing of men by providing a space for them to come together and engage in hands-on activities, such as woodworking, metalworking and other hobbies. The association has a network of over 600 sheds throughout the UK and provides support, resources, and training to shedders to help them improve their mental and physical health, develop new skills and form friendships within their communities.
As part of his visit, Luke took a giant doll’s house for the men to refurbish. It needs extensive restoration, renovation and improvement to return to its original state. It was originally donated by Karen Marvel of Biggleswade, Bedfordshire and was handmade by her father. “The guys who are doing up the house sound amazing,” said Karen. “My dad would be over the moon, as I am, looking forward to seeing pics in time.”
After an initial review by the team, they will need to do the following:
- Assess the doll’s house: Examine the house for any damages or issues that need to be addressed, such as broken or missing parts or chipped paint.
- Clean the doll’s house: Wipe down the house with a soft cloth to remove any dust or debris.
- Repair any damages: Fix any broken or damaged parts, such as doors, windows or furniture.
- Sand and repaint: Sand down any rough areas, then repaint the house with a fresh coat of paint. They will also repaint the interior and exterior walls and add new wallpaper or decor.
- Add accessories: Add accessories such as rugs, curtains and plants to enhance the overall look of the doll’s house.
- Finish with details: Add finishing touches such as curtains, lights, and trim to complete the refurbishment.
