Why do we eat unhealthy food? ’For Men To Talk’ acknowledges Morelife, a weight management support for adults.
After recently speaking to Service Lead, Sarah Knapp, ’For Men To Talk’ founder Luke Newman is supporting Morelife (UK) Ltd, a weight management support for adults.
Morelife’s programmes focus on behaviour change to support local people to make positive changes that make a big difference.
The programmes are psychologically informed, which means that they tap into the most important factors like thoughts, feelings and emotions which influence choices and behaviours when it comes to food. Morelife concentrates on addressing the root cause of the behaviour, rather than the symptom of the behaviour.
“Having struggled with my own weight all my life, I know that some weight loss organisations promote rapid or extreme weight loss, which can be unhealthy and unsustainable,” said Luke. “This often leads to a cycle of yo-yo dieting, where individuals regain the weight they initially lost. I fall under that umbrella.”
Morelife offers free spaces and are available for residents of Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire, and Milton Keynes. They also must have a BMI of 30+ (or 27.5+ if they have a health condition such as high blood pressure or are from BAME background).
The programmes aim to:
- Understand and recognise weight influences
- Read and understand food labels
- Understand the difference between physical and emotional eating
The participants will have access to flexible digital sessions each week, at a time that suits you and fits around busy schedules. The programme will take 12 weeks, with helpful topics to support weight loss. Added weekly group support are also available, with a weight management practitioner online or at local venues.
