Enhancing Community Wellness: ‘For Men To Talk’ and The BIGG Theatre

General News, News & Events

In an inspiring move towards strengthening community support and fostering creative expression, Luke Newman, founder of the men’s peer support group ‘For Men To Talk’, recently met with Danielle Reales and Anna Stolli from The BIGG Theatre. The meeting focused on exploring additional support that The BIGG Theatre could offer to the town of Biggleswade, Bedfordshire.

‘For Men To Talk’ is a Community Interest Company dedicated to providing a safe space for men to share their experiences, struggles, and triumphs. The group’s mission is to break the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and encourage open, honest conversations. This aligns perfectly with the ethos of The BIGG Theatre, which has been transformed from a tired chain restaurant into a vibrant community arts hub.

The BIGG Theatre, also a Community Interest Company, is more than just a venue for entertainment. It is a beacon of creativity and community engagement located in the heart of Biggleswade. The theatre boasts a multi-format performance space that hosts a variety of live entertainment, including theatre productions, cinema screenings, live music, comedy shows, and dance performances.

The contemporary foyer of The BIGG Theatre doubles as a coffee shop and bar, open five days a week. Patrons can enjoy single-origin specialty coffee, a selection of locally sourced cakes, and craft beers. The foyer also features a gallery wall showcasing the works of local artists, providing a platform for Biggleswade’s creative talents.

The BIGG Theatre is committed to being a versatile space that serves the entire community. It offers facilities for dance and fitness classes, group events, creative workshops, birthday parties, rehearsal space, and youth clubs.

During their meeting, Luke Newman shared his vision for how The BIGG Theatre could further support the well-being of Biggleswade’s residents by providing further groups and workshops.

“By offering my ideas, it enhances the support available to the local community,” said Luke. “By leveraging the strengths of both ‘For Men To Talk’ and The BIGG Theatre, our initiatives aim to create a holistic approach to community wellness that addresses both mental health and creative expression. I know that Daniella and Anna agreed.”

The BIGG Theatre are looking for volunteers to run a daytime grief café, book club, business networking event, LGBTQIA+ safe space group and lead a walk and talk from The BIGG Theatre.
