Celebrating five years of ‘For Men To Talk’

General News, News & Events

Today we proudly celebrate five years of ‘For Men To Talk,’ a peer support group for men struggling with anxiety, depression, and grief. What started as a single meeting in Biggleswade has grown into a network of support for men in 10 different villages and towns. Our journey reflects resilience, adaptation, and the power of open conversation.

From Humble Beginnings to Nationwide Growth

In 2019, we began as a physical meeting group in Biggleswade, offering a safe space for men to share their struggles and connect with others. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we adapted quickly, moving to virtual meetings. These online sessions helped us reach men from further afield, allowing them to benefit from the same sense of connection and understanding.

As restrictions eased, we expanded our services, introducing walking meetings, physical gatherings in new locations, and even fishing meet-ups. Each meeting style caters to different preferences, ensuring every man can find the environment that suits him best.

Inclusive Support for All

‘For Men To Talk’ is proud to offer a unique space for men affected by autism. Our virtual group, ‘For Men To Talk about Autism,’ is tailored for autistic men, those with autistic family members, or those awaiting a diagnosis. It’s an inclusive and supportive environment where men can discuss the challenges and triumphs of living with autism.

Luke Newman, founder of ‘For Men To Talk,’ shares, “Creating a space where men can open up about their struggles and feel truly heard has been life-changing—not just for them, but for me too. The growth we’ve achieved in these five years is a testament to the need for such support.”

Looking Ahead

The next five years are full of ambition. We plan to expand ‘For Men To Talk’ into more villages, towns, and cities across the country. To do this, we need more peer support facilitators—people passionate about helping others and creating safe spaces for men to talk.

Get Involved

Whether you’re looking for support, want to volunteer, or know someone who could benefit from ‘For Men To Talk,’ we’d love to hear from you. Together, we can ensure every man has access to the help and understanding they deserve.

Let’s continue building a future where men feel comfortable talking about their mental health, no matter where they are. Here’s to five incredible years—and many more to come!
