Casting lines and building connections: ‘For Men To Talk and Fish’ in 2025

Fishing, General News, News & Events

In 2025, ‘For Men To Talk’ will continue their popular ‘For Men To Talk and Fish’ meetings at Manor Farm Lakes in Lower Caldecote. These sessions are more than just fishing—they’re a lifeline for men navigating mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, and grief.

Twelve meetings are planned across the year (dates to be confirmed), offering participants a calm, welcoming environment where they can connect with others, enjoy the outdoors, and discover the therapeutic benefits of fishing.

Experienced, Qualified Support

Every session is led by a highly qualified facilitator who holds a Level 2 angling coaching certification, along with up-to-date first aid, safeguarding, and DBS checks. With over 20 years of experience supporting individuals with mental health struggles, the facilitator ensures that everyone feels safe and supported.

And don’t worry about gear! Fishing tackle, bait, and other essentials will be provided, so participants can focus on the experience without any stress.

Why Fishing?

Fishing is not just a pastime; it’s an activity that promotes mindfulness, patience, and relaxation. Spending time by the water helps ease stress and encourages open conversations in a serene setting. The shared experience of fishing fosters camaraderie, breaking the isolation that many men feel when facing mental health issues.

Luke Newman, founder of ‘For Men To Talk,’ explains:

“Sometimes, it’s easier to open up when you’re doing something calming and familiar, like fishing. These sessions provide men with a chance to connect without pressure, in an environment that supports their mental well-being.”

What is ‘For Men To Talk’?

‘For Men To Talk’ is a peer support group for men experiencing anxiety, depression, and grief. It provides a safe, confidential space where men can share their feelings with others who truly understand.

Through activities like ‘For Men To Talk and Fish,’ the group extends its support beyond traditional meeting rooms, showing that meaningful connections can happen anywhere—even on a quiet lakeside.

How to Join

Whether you’re an experienced angler or have never fished before, these sessions are for everyone. Keep an eye on the ‘For Men To Talk’ website via https://formentotalk.co.uk/fmttandfish/ and social media pages for announcements about the 2025 dates.

If you’re ready to cast a line and connect with others, ‘For Men To Talk and Fish’ could be just what you need.

As Luke Newman puts it:

“Talking saves lives, and sometimes the best conversations happen when you’re sitting by the water, waiting for the fish to bite.”

Fishing together, talking together—taking steps toward better mental health, one cast at a time.
