Tackling poverty through free debt help: Join the CAP Money Course

General News, News & Events

Churches across the UK are taking active steps to tackle poverty by working with Christians Against Poverty (CAP). Through this partnership, they offer free debt help and community groups designed to support those struggling financially.

Poverty can look different for everyone, but at its core, it’s about having less than you need to thrive. It might mean worrying about how to pay for food, rent, or heating. If accessing basic needs is a daily challenge, it’s a sign of poverty.

To help address this, Biggleswade Baptist Church is running the CAP Money Course starting Friday, 17th January 2025, from 9:30 to 11:30 am. This free, five-week course is designed to help people take control of their finances, whether they’re struggling to budget, save for the future, or simply make the most of their money.

Why the CAP Money Course Matters

Money worries can quickly lead to stress, isolation, and poor mental health. For many, financial challenges can feel overwhelming, but practical solutions are available. The CAP Money Course offers step-by-step guidance in a supportive environment, helping people regain confidence and stability.

Luke Newman, founder of ‘For Men To Talk,’ shares his thoughts:
“Poverty affects every part of a person’s life. Financial education like this can be life-changing, giving people the tools to overcome struggles and build a better future.”
