Since the beginning of October 2024, 657 Co-op Members have chosen to support ‘For Men To Talk’ through the Co-op Local Community Fund. The more Co-op Members that select this cause, the more funds ‘For Men To Talk’ will receive at the end of the funding round in October 2025.
How the Co-op Local Community Fund Works
The Co-op Local Community Fund helps projects across the UK that members care about. Each year, Co-op works with thousands of local causes, helping them raise as much money as possible. Since 2016, Co-op has shared over £108 million with nearly 40,000 community projects across the UK. Co-op puts its profits back into local communities, ensuring members and owners can support causes close to their hearts.
Luke Newman, founder of ‘For Men To Talk’, explains: “A Co-op Member chooses a cause until October 2025. The more members that choose ‘For Men To Talk’, the more money out of the Local Community Fund is donated.”
About ‘For Men To Talk’
‘For Men To Talk’ is a peer support group for men experiencing mental health challenges, such as anxiety, depression, and grief. It provides a safe and comfortable environment where men can openly talk about their struggles.
Meetings cover various aspects of a man’s life, including work, relationships, and personal challenges. There are no formal rules—no registration is needed, and attendees can speak as much or as little as they like.
The group offers different types of meetings, including in-person, virtual, fishing, and walking sessions, to make support accessible to all.
Bringing the Community Together
By creating a safe space for men to share their thoughts and emotions, ‘For Men To Talk’ helps break the stigma around mental health. The meetings encourage open conversations, emotional expression, and personal growth.
This initiative not only helps individuals but also strengthens community bonds, promotes mental wellbeing, and fosters a more compassionate and supportive environment.
