‘For Men To Talk’ expands to Ampthill, Flitwick and Shefford this June

Ampthill, Flitwick, General News, Meetings, Shefford

June 2025 marks a significant milestone for ‘For Men To Talk’, the Bedfordshire-based men’s peer support group, as it launches new in-person meetings in Ampthill, Flitwick and Shefford. Thanks to generous funding from the Bedfordshire & Luton Community Foundation under the Community Trust Fund, the Community Interest Company (CIC) is continuing its mission to support more men across the region who are battling anxiety, depression, and grief.

Founded in Potton, Bedfordshire, ‘For Men To Talk’ was created with a clear purpose: to break down the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and to offer safe spaces for open and honest conversations. The group hosts a variety of sessions — including physical meetups, virtual calls, walking groups, and even fishing trips — to meet men where they are and give them the opportunity to connect with others who understand their struggles.

Founder Luke Newman shared his thoughts on the expansion: “This funding gives us the opportunity to reach even more men who may feel isolated or silenced. The simple act of talking can change – and even save – lives. These new meetings in Ampthill, Flitwick and Shefford could be the first step in someone’s journey to healing.”

The June 2025 dates for the new meetings are:

  • ‘For Men To Talk – Ampthill (Afternoon Huddle)’ physical group meeting at The Wingfield Club on Wednesday 4 June 2025 at 1:30pm.
  • ‘For Men To Talk – Ampthill (Evening Session)’ physical group meeting at The Wingfield Club on Thursday 19 June 2025 at 6pm.
  • ‘For Men To Talk – Flitwick (Evening Session)’ physical group meeting at Chic Celebrations at Thursday 5 June 2025 at 6pm
  • ‘For Men To Talk – Flitwick (Good Morning)’ physical group meeting at Chic Celebrations on Tuesday 17 June 2025 at 10am.
  • ‘For Men To Talk – Shefford (Evening Session)’ physical group meeting at The Cornerstone at Tuesday 10 June 2025 at 6pm.
  • ‘For Men To Talk – Shefford (Afternoon Huddle)’ physical group meeting at The Cornerstone on Wednesday 25 June 2025 at 12pm.

These new sessions build upon the strong foundation already laid by ‘For Men To Talk’ in towns including Biggleswade, Potton, St Neots, Gamlingay, Sandy and Hitchin, as well as virtual and in-person meetings further afield in places like Aldershot and Stockport.

As a CIC, ‘For Men To Talk’ is a not-for-profit initiative, with every resource directed toward community benefit. Its growing presence across Bedfordshire and beyond reflects the growing awareness of the importance of men’s mental health — and the vital role of peer support in recovery and resilience.
