A Night to Remember: ‘For Men To Talk’ attends The Bobby Copping Foundation Midsummer Ball

The Falcon Hotel in Uppingham was alive with energy as The Bobby Copping Foundation hosted its Midsummer Ball. The event, filled with welcome drinks, a delicious dinner, a raffle, an auction, and a disco, raised an amazing £17,772 – enough to fully fund nearly 400 hours of counselling for people in need.
Among the guests was Luke Newman, founder of the men’s peer support group ‘For Men To Talk’, and his wife, Hayley. Luke didn’t just attend—he got involved, placing the highest bid in the charity auction and winning a family trip to Norfolk.
“It was a fantastic evening, supporting an incredible cause. I’m proud to have played a part in helping raise money that will go directly towards life-changing counselling sessions,” said Luke Newman.
During the night, Luke had a heartfelt conversation with Bobby Copping, the founder of the foundation. The two leaders discussed the potential for future collaborations, recognising how their organisations could support each other.
The Bobby Copping Foundation is a mental health charity that provides support through fully funded counselling and educational workshops. They believe everyone should have access to mental health help, no matter their age or background. The foundation works with registered, professional counsellors who aim to connect with clients quickly—usually within 2 to 7 working days, with sessions starting within 15 working days.
Meanwhile, ‘For Men To Talk’, founded in December 2019 by Luke Newman, continues to grow as a vital support group for men. It offers a safe, friendly space for men dealing with anxiety, depression, or grief to talk openly—whether in person, online, during walks, or even during fishing.
As Luke puts it, “Talking saves lives. We just need to give men the space and support to do it.”
With partnerships like this, and a shared mission to make mental health care more accessible, the future looks bright for both organisations—and the people they support.
