‘For Men To Talk’, a Community Interest Company dedicated to encouraging men to open up about their mental health, has received a significant boost in the form of funding from the Imagine Foundation. The family-run foundation, has pledged £10,000 per year over the next two years to support the work of ‘For Men To Talk’ across its various peer-led support initiatives.

Founded by mental health advocate Luke Newman, ‘For Men To Talk’ offers a safe, welcoming space for men to share their thoughts, struggles, and experiences. With sessions held both virtually and in person—including through unique activities like walking groups and fishing meet-ups—the initiative aims to reduce isolation, break down stigmas, and encourage open conversation. These gatherings are more than just support groups; they are lifelines for many men experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, and other mental health challenges.

The impact of this new funding will be wide-reaching. Not only will more men be able to access support before reaching a crisis point, but their families and communities will benefit too. When men feel heard and supported, the ripple effects are profound—better communication, improved relationships, and stronger, more compassionate communities.

Luke Newman, founder of ‘For Men To Talk’, expressed his appreciation for the partnership. “I’m incredibly grateful to the Imagine Foundation for believing in what we’re doing,” he said. “This isn’t just funding—it’s a show of trust and commitment that will allow us to reach more men, run more sessions, and most importantly, help more people feel less alone.”

The Imagine Foundation shares that sentiment. “The Trustees have been hugely impressed by Luke’s passion with ‘For Men To Talk’ and we look forward in helping grow that further,” said a spokesperson for the foundation. Imagine Foundation focuses on building lasting relationships and nurturing the development of the organisations it supports, making this partnership an ideal fit.

The funding will be instrumental in expanding the reach of the group’s activities. Over the next year, the focus will be on increasing attendance, particularly among men who have never previously accessed mental health support. Facilitators and volunteers will be empowered to continue their vital work, and the hope is to foster an increasingly open culture where vulnerability is seen not as weakness, but as strength.

As mental health continues to be a critical issue across the UK, grassroots initiatives like ‘For Men To Talk’ are becoming essential components of community wellbeing. With the support of the Imagine Foundation, the future looks brighter for countless men who will now have more opportunities to connect, share, and heal.
