Remote Control Cars and Real Conversations: A Weekend to Remember

For the third year in a row, The East Anglia Scale Trail (EAST) proudly supported the men’s mental health group ‘For Men To Talk’ during their exciting family weekend event. Held on 7–8 June 2025 at Avalanche Adventure, the event brought together families, fun, and fundraising — raising an amazing £800 to support men’s mental health.
This adds to the £1,000 raised by EAST in 2023 and 2024, showing a growing commitment to a cause that’s changing lives.
Founder of ‘For Men To Talk’, Luke Newman, shared his gratitude:
“We are incredibly thankful to EAST for their continued support. Their generous donation helps us create safe spaces for men to open up, connect, and heal.”
The event was packed with fun and creativity. Activities included a quarry trail, basher track, woodland and rally trails, buggy racing, and a special area for building remote control cars. There was even a Scaletra adventure challenge — offering something exciting for everyone.
But this weekend wasn’t just about cars and tracks. It was also about connection. Remote control car hobbies can bring people closer together — especially fathers and sons. Working on the cars, solving problems, and enjoying the thrill of racing helps build strong memories and encourages healthy conversations between generations.
All the money raised will support ‘For Men To Talk’ meetings across several towns in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and even as far as Stockport in Cheshire. The group also runs a dedicated space called ‘For Men To Talk about Autism’, offering autistic men and those connected to autism a place to share and support one another.
‘For Men To Talk’ creates a welcoming space for men facing anxiety, depression, grief, and other challenges. There are no rules, no pressure — just the chance to talk, or even just listen, in a relaxed and safe environment. Meetings are held in-person, online, on walks, or while fishing — all designed to make talking easier.

It’s more than just remote control cars. It’s about building bonds, raising awareness, and helping men know they’re not alone.
