For Men To Talk Attend Biggleswade Town Council Civic Service

On Sunday 22 March 2026 at 3pm, ‘For Men To Talk’ CEO Luke Newman and facilitator Kenny-Joe Witney were honoured to attend the Biggleswade Town Council Civic Service for Mayor of Biggleswade, Councillor Jonathan Woodhead. The service took place at St Andrew’s Church, bringing together community members, leaders, and organisations from across the area.
A Civic Service is an important tradition. It marks the role of the town mayor and offers a moment for reflection, unity, and pride. It is also a chance to recognise the people and groups who make a difference in the local community. The service included hymns, readings, and a warm sense of togetherness.
During the event, Councillor Jonathan Woodhead highlighted the work of volunteers and community groups. This recognition is vital. Many organisations work quietly behind the scenes, supporting people through difficult times and helping build stronger communities.
The service was also attended by dignitaries and leaders from neighbouring towns. This created a wider sense of connection and shared purpose. Events like this remind us that communities are stronger when they work together.
Two charities were given special attention during the service. Biggleswade Good Neighbours was recognised for its work supporting people who may feel isolated or need extra help to live independently. Their work reduces loneliness and helps people stay connected.
The second charity, Magpas Air Ambulance, provides life-saving emergency care 24 hours a day. Whether by air or land, their teams deliver critical treatment at the scene, often making a life-changing difference.
“Being part of the Civic Service was a proud moment,” said Luke Newman, CEO of ‘For Men To Talk’. “It shows the strength of community in Biggleswade. When people come together, support each other, and recognise the work being done, it creates a real sense of belonging.”
‘For Men To Talk’ continues to play an active role in the Biggleswade community. The organisation offers regular opportunities for men to connect, talk, and spend time together in a relaxed environment.
In 2026, ‘For Men To Talk – Biggleswade (Good Morning)’ meetings take place twice a month at The Bigg Theatre, starting at 11am. These sessions provide a welcoming space during the day.
There are also ‘For Men To Talk – Biggleswade (Evening Session)’ meetings, held twice a month at Jones Cafe Bar at 6pm. These sessions offer an evening option for those who may be working during the day.
In addition, the ‘For Men To Talk… and Walk’ events run once a month. Meeting at Jones’ Café Bar at 9:15am for a 9:30am start, the group walks the scenic Biggleswade Green Wheel Route. These walks combine fresh air, movement, and conversation.
Attending the Civic Service highlights the importance of community connection. It reflects the shared values of support, kindness, and inclusion. For ‘For Men To Talk’, it was not just an event to attend, but a reminder of why their work matters.
As Biggleswade continues to grow and thrive, events like the Civic Service help keep community spirit at its heart.
