First ‘For Men To Talk… and Fish’ Events of 2026 Reel in Success

The first two ‘For Men To Talk… and Fish’ meetings of 2026 have been a huge success. Men came together by the water, shared space, and supported each other in a simple but powerful way. With rods in hand and no pressure to talk, conversations flowed naturally—or not at all. And that’s exactly the point.
Fishing creates a calm and relaxed setting. It gives men the chance to step away from daily stress and focus on something simple. For many, that space can make a real difference.
Luke Newman, CEO and founder of For Men To Talk, said: “Fishing gives men the chance to slow down. You don’t have to force conversation—just being there together can be enough. That’s where real connection often begins.”
How fishing helps men’s mental health:
- Provides time away from pressure – stepping out of daily routines helps clear the mind
- Encourages mindfulness – focusing on the water and surroundings keeps attention in the present
- Reduces stress and anxiety – calm environments can lower stress levels
- Offers quiet reflection time – space to think without distractions
- Improves mood through nature exposure – being outdoors boosts wellbeing
- Creates a sense of purpose and achievement – even small catches build confidence
- Supports routine and structure – something to plan and look forward to
- Builds social connections – encourages conversation without pressure
- Allows comfortable silence – no need to talk constantly
- Encourages physical activity – walking and setting up equipment supports health
- Helps with emotional regulation – patience learned through fishing can carry into daily life
- Provides a healthy coping mechanism – an alternative to harmful habits
- Boosts self-esteem – learning and improving skills builds confidence
- Creates opportunities for peer support – side-by-side conversations feel easier
- Promotes better sleep – time outdoors and reduced stress help rest

Sometimes, all it takes is a quiet bank, a fishing rod, and someone beside you to remind you—you’re not alone.
