‘For Men To Talk’ physical, virtual, walking and fishing meetings in 2026

General News, News & Events

‘For Men To Talk’ is a peer support group for men who are suffering with mental health illnesses such as anxiety, depression and grief. It gives men a safe and relaxed space to talk, listen, or just sit with others who understand how hard life can feel.

Recent data shows that in the UK someone takes their own life every 90 minutes. One in four people have had suicidal thoughts. The 2024 suicide registrations have just been released, and the figures are still heartbreaking.

In 2024 there were 6,190 suicides registered in England and Wales. This is 11.4 deaths per 100,000 people, which is similar to 2023. Of these deaths, 4,599 were male. For men, the rate remained almost the same at 17.6 deaths per 100,000 people. The highest rate was in men aged 50 to 54 years, at 27.5 deaths per 100,000 people.

These numbers show how important men’s peer support is. Groups like ‘For Men To Talk’ save lives by helping men feel less alone.

‘For Men To Talk’ launched in 2019 with physical meetings in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. Since then it has grown across towns and counties. The conversations cover many parts of a man’s life, including work, family, relationships, anxiety, loss and stress.

There are no rules. There is no pressure to speak. There is no need to register or be referred. Men can say as much or as little as they want.

Founder Luke Newman said:
“Too many men feel they have to deal with everything on their own. ‘For Men To Talk’ is about breaking that silence. If one man feels less alone after a meeting, then we are doing something right.”

In 2026, ‘For Men To Talk’ will continue to offer physical, virtual, walking and fishing meetings each month. These are the current locations:
